Needle discoloration

A relatively common issue we see here in the diagnostic clinic is needle discoloration/yellowing, typically of the previous years' growth. We are yet to find a plant pathogen or insect problem associated with this issue. It has been speculated by staff her at Iowa State that this might be a result of a nutrient deficiency. This theory is untested however and even if this was the cause it would be unknown what nutrient or nutrients are deficient.
