Non-native pines, while beautiful and common in Iowa, have unfortunately not evolved with the plant diseases present in Iowa. For this reason, they are often more susceptible to disease issues and have problems more frequently than the native eastern white pine. Common Symptoms:
Decline- whole tree/trees starting to fade in color or turn brown
Diplodia tip blight-tips of branches appear brown dead or stunted
Dothistroma Needle blight- clusters of needles appear half dead with a distinct separation
